i have only got to listen to it while it was still cold and stumblin a little.
it did sound different from the megaphone.once it started to warm up a little and i cracked it pretty hard it popped the muffler apart  .
hard to describe but maybe more vroom than woom.
if that makes any sense .once i get the rivits and straps to get it back together so i can do some high rpm pulls i'll have a better idea of the difference.
adam,
thanks for the info man.
my brother had a cbr929rr that had a two brothers pipe and the can was some kinda gold lookin x-braid that had a thin coating on it.the coating wore off of the weave and it was kinda funky lookin  .

adam/everyone
what can i use to polish this carbon fiber with?
here is the piece i had to fabricate.i cut out a piece of sheetmetal and finished it to an oval then tigged some 1/2 x 1/8(weldable steel from atwoods  ) around the edge, and polished the weld off.then cleaned the old piece of meg back up and tigged them back up.

From what I can see ground clearance wise with that pipe.....you're asking for another crash. I know these guys are all being nice with their comments...God Bless their little hearts  BUT when it comes to safety, I'm not about to kiss your boo boo and tell you it's all going to be ok....
Get that thing the hell off your bike PERIOD!
This has been a public service announcement from someone who's older and thought you ALL were smarter that this... WTF

just curious,i'm 40.
i have had my 1978 z1r since 1985.
i have had this 1980 z1r since 1998.
the header drags on the weld where #3 down pipe is welded into the collector .
experience is how i know this.
the lower leading edge of the can is well above the scrub line.
i do not appreciate anyone thinking they can/should tell me what to do.
make a suggestion=fine,
tell me what to do,if i did not ask=not fine.
my experience is that people who act like know it alls, usually don't.

i drag my bike on both sides(left peg, right header) in corners usually a time or two a year just street riding.
ever since i put the custom swingarm and 190/200 mm rear tires on it seems like it likes to be cranked over on the edge of the tire more than it likes to be on the center .

Rider here demonstrates his own special method of removing rubber from bottoms of foot pegs.
Says it also works on tires to eliminate chicken strips.
And on knees of trousers.

My experience tells me that Forest Gump was right on the money... Stupid is as Stupid does.
For having that bike as long as you have, you sure haven't proven that you've learned a hell of a lot about safety.
You claim one thing but that one photo sure doesn't support your statement. I'll put my faith in what I can see with my eyes
I'm 54 Leon. Keep running parts that drag on your motorcycle if want to. I've seen too much pain and suffering over the years from things like that.
I pointed out what I view as a dangerous part and right away, you make it a personal matter.
Most of you young guys are too thin skinned. You'd never have cut the mustard growing up around the people I grew up around..... They'd have had you twisted every which way but loose...
NEXT :woohoo:
