it was flattened down one side, scraped, and not feasible to repair.
i had this old m4 carbon can laying around that a buddy had given me and figured i would mate the two up.
i trimmed the meg off at the first weld down the pipe. towards the collector and built an oval piece that i could weld to the pipe and screw or rivit the can to just as it was on the pipe it came from.
here is a pic,

does anyone know where to find the stainless strap material that goes around the ends of these sport bike type cans?
the stuff that was on this one had gotten bent and scraped up before it came into my possesion.
i have searched ebay for terms like motorcylcle muffler strap, exhaust parts and such.
would you rivit it back together or screw it back together is the other ?
looks wise will rivits or screws look best?
i tried to mimic the angle of the meg(which also follows the lower angle of the tubes that the rear pegs mount to) and tucked it into the side of the bike as much as possible.

what can i use to polish this carbon fiber with?
here is the piece i had to fabricate.i cut out a piece of sheetmetal and finished it to an oval then tigged some 1/2 x 1/8(weldable steel from atwoods  ) around the edge, and polished the weld off.then cleaned the old piece of meg back up and tigged them back up.

i don't think anything looks better than a kerker on a kz.
i am a cheap a$$ tho and was tired of rollin the banged up meg.
it just sucks cause by the time i have enough money for a new kerker something else needs the money more.
something about being over $300.00 dollars makes other things start to take priority .
i got a couple kerkers but they are both banged up some.

adam/everyone
what can i use to polish this carbon fiber with?
leon
Hi Leon you can wet sand it and buff it out with some wax.
I would have angled the can up a little bit but if you've got enough ground clearance this way...
If you can't find an exhaust strap... measure the diameter of the can and buy a matching stainless adel/cushion clamp at a marine supply store or mcmaster carr. That's what I used to hold the puke tank on my bike. Mcmaster has up to 4" larger ones may be hard to find.

thanks for the polishing tips.
i put the (exit)end of it where the old one was.
up a little wouldn't hurt and could possibly look better.
but workin by myself and not being able to get very far away from it(due to deep snow, cluttered shop )to get a visual.
i just had to "do my best".
i can always slit the top and angle it up and tig it back if i feel the need,we'll see.
i have also toyed with the idea of buying a new megaphone and just replacing the meg.
i can get steel or stainless megs fairly reasonably priced.
testa,
thanks for the heads up on contacting m4.they are in dallas by the way, sir.
called there and got kyle on the phone sent him a couple pics of which muffleho i have.he said the straps are a coupla bucks and he will give me a hand full of rivits.
easy peasy,can't beat that.
tri, this muffler doesn't offend me like most sport bike pipes on old muscle bikes normally do.by the same token i am not just super stoked and trying to talk everybody else into doing it.
like you mentioned it will do for "now",until something better comes along.
thanks for lookin and the good words.
