I read somewhere where someone painted the master link clip white so that it'd be eazy to spot with a quick glance during preride safety checks.
I've been meaning to do something with mine.

looks like you will have a good solid runner.you gonna just match the side covers to the tank or re-paint the whole set?

that is about how they all are by now...my 900 was owned by a "mechanic" took a year to fix his stuff...the best was the yamaha fork springs and two pieces of 8 " pipe to make up the difference when i opened the tubes...
my MKII had points when it came with elec....
that bike is looking nice...and nice repairs too

Yes sir! It's getting there... I worked 55 hours this week, got home, fed the dogs and put a pot of coffee on the burner. Finished up at 4 am Sat morning. Woke up at 9 am, fed the dogs, put another pot on and made bacon and eggs, dogs got some bacon and I was back at it.
I work hard and play hard. I'm on call most weeks so I'm trying to make the best of the time and weather. I'm damn near beat so it's time to relax and enjoy a drink or two with my fellow KZ owners.
Tommorow is movie/laundry/house cleaning. The key is to loose the key for the garage, lol!~

Anyway, this is what I started with. Uncomfortable handlebars, controls and cables that sucked, an engine that was jetted way too fat, the wrong battery, ugly front fender, points set too tight, retarded timing, leaky petcock, loose shifter, clutch out of adjustment, bad seals, footpegs upside down, etc.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It's hard, cold work here in Colorado and yes, I have a computer in the garage. My feet are freezing and the water based solvent damn near showed me what arthritis is like.
Sounds like you know what I'm going through with your project. Some people should not be allowed to own tools. :blink:

I've been meaning to do something with mine.
Not a bad idea I suppose but a properly installed master clip should never vaporize into thin air. I have no idea who replaced the chain originally but they need a reality check. It's a 630 DID o-ring chain that is actually in good shape and has no tight spots.
Like I said earlier, this bike is a mish mosh of beautful, almost new parts and life threating screw ups, lol.
I paid too much but at least I saved it and possibly the previous owners and son's life.

its harder for the rest of that link to come out as long as the plate is on there than people think,definately replace the clip though just in case
