Aren't those like $1000 for a set of four...used?
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Piston options have been a global effort as well. There are some available from Germany. The cheap "big bore“ kits on e-bay are not an option in my book, though they have a following in the small Honda 4's. Noting is left in stock here in the us. MTC used to make pistons for the 1300's but they won't do them any more. JE will custom forge a set for me for about $1200. Wiseco will make a custom order with minimum of 12 for a little less per set. On whim I called Ross Racing and they actually have the tooling to make pistons of this size, and rings, and pins. They quoted $880 for one set and about 100 less for 3 sets. I will have to check over on the 1300 forums and see if anyone else is interested.
I still have to decide what size, I could go 62.5 to 64mm depending on the availability of rings. Probably stay at 63 or under to leave some meat left in the sleeves. Stock compression ratio is 9.9 to 1 and I could bump it some but I doubt its going to be worth much hp wise.

I also found out the Cosworth in the UK makes race pistons for the 1300's, 63mm bore with 11.5 to 1 compression, that ought to haul ass...

The head looks fantastic, with a well done mild port job and new valves should run better than new. Great Job Larry, well done man!

Didn't find any signs of problems in the oil pan, bottom of the engine and transmission looked fine. I cleaned up all the sludge in the oil pan and painted it.

Spent a day scrubbing the engine cases with MEK, and hit them with some gloss black VHT.
Finally starting to put it back together. Oh and Ross Racing is starting on my pistons.... fun stuff!

I may have to try a heat gun to cure it because the engine probably won't be running until next spring.
