You know what Josh, I think I might need to take you up on that offer. I haven't touched my bike, or anything in my garage for that matter since its been so freaking hot and humid here. Now thats its cooling off, I am jonsing to tear the bike back down and clean it up. I'm thinking today is a good day to organize my garage so I can move around and get stuff done

I know it sounds crazy, but I think I'm gonna stick with the old cable system. I do have a hydraulic slave from a RF900 laying around, but I don't have the master to go with it. Now if I can only get Josh and Mark up here on the same day to work on my bike for me I can post some progress! :P

Doesn't sound crazy to me. After having a slave cylinder fail in a car's hydraulic clutch I'm no big fan. Cable is much easier to maintain and, if necessary, replace. Ed

far more cables fail than hydro. what would u rather have, for reliability, cable brakes, or hydro?

my cable drive worm gear keeps getting dirty and that makes it feel rough at the lever.

i am a cable operated clutch guy myself.

prolly stems from my time flattrack racing, you just don't have any "feel" with a hydraulic clutch.

the hydro is either on or off,the cable you can "feel" better.

if that means anything to you.

can't expect some hammer fisted woodworker (mark :silly: ) to be able to tell any difference tho :P .

as always my freind, i value your experience and input.

I do agree with u Leon, 100%. and if i was drag raceing i would go cable.
but for a street ride i dont feel that its so important. just like a harley guy is happy with his bikes, handling. there is a huge range of acceptability when it comes to street stuff as aposed to track stuff.
1 thing, that i know from experience, is that u can get a lot of feel from the hydaulic brakes . i must rely on feel to feather the brakes from full on , to minimum, just before the apex of a turn, after a long straight away, at the track.
But I dont have the experience to say why that doesnt translate to the clutch side?? maybe we just need a better lever ratio on the clutch. dif ratio's play a big role in feel ,on the brake side.

And u might be surprised at how much feel goes into the FINER details of woodworking. :)

Mark, I think Leon was comparing you to a woman's approach to wood working, could be wrong.  I my self like cable, you get feed back, brakes are progressive in feel, clutch isn't but I'm working on hydraulic setup for a full dragbike. Solenoid release with an adjustable bleed. Tried the air setup but it wasn't consistent, I think it had to do with air is compressible and fluids aren't.

I never had a problem with the stock cable set up besides replacing a fraying cable. I have a hydraulic on my Bandit 1200, and I'm not very fond of it. It works, and it is consistant, but I'm just so used to the feel of a cable on all of my dirt bikes and most all of my past street bikes. The GSXR1000 perch is cable and I plan to run all of the switch housings and controls. I may try a hydro unit one of these days down the road, but for now I'll keep it simple. I think I've complicated plenty of stuff on the bike already  :P Thanks for the comments Les, Mark Leon ;)
Yeah Josh, lets get together. Did you ever try another starter cover?
