Good luck with your engine work. I like your paint / colours. Not trying to be a smartass but it looks like the front fender is on backwards, a very easy mistake to make.

Yeah I noticed it was on backwards a while ago just didn't change it till right before I tore her apart. So I'm finally looking to get the valve work done or find a new head if I can get it cheaper than a valve job. We'll see.

I'm going to be heading out to my buddy's place where I am keeping it this week to start replacing all the gaskets and giving her a good cleaning. I should have her up and running in a few weeks. As long as I can find a cheap set of pipes for her.

Also have some other parts that I should be getting. New Mag wheels and sprocket new chain. A few other things. Maybe even a seat the fits correctly. Its time that I finished everything up. I just took out my brothers Triumph Speed triple 955I and it made me miss my bike even more.

I got the disease and now its time to ride.

I want to thank everyone on here for their help with my project. It's helped out a lot.

Here's another picture of her right before I tore her down.

Nice work bringing that one back. You're to be congratulated.

Thank you. I love that bike and I've only ridden it about 2 1/2 months. I really to get a valve job but the costs for me at the moment seem to be prohibitive. Which sucks. I really want to find someone in my town(Wichita KS) who can give me a good deal on a valve job. If anyone on here is from Wichita and could help me out that would be great. I was planning on calling around today to see if anyone did that work in town but I have the feeling that no one does.

Krusty... I too am in Wichita and am tryna keep my old KZ alive and healthy.... been shopping round for guys who might do a bit o this or that for me....
Have had some interesting experiences at the bike shops... and am thinking a certain shade tree guy I know might be a better resource....
I'll let ya know if anything promising develops in that arena....
I also have heard through the grapevine that a tech at Motorsports on K-15 may be interested in some sidework.
Would like to get aquainted with ya if you are willing... maybe we can point one another toward mutual aquaintances who are well equipped to tinker with these machines.
Personally I think you have a leg up on me already in the knowledge arena so forgive me if I ask YOU a few stupid questions occasionally.

Well lets just say I'm not too technical but I can figure things out pretty well. I'm completely up for a meet up or the like.
I'm trying to find someone with parts myself. Need a few smaller things to finish my build but the main thing is the valve job.

What all do you need done to your bike? Just curious I might be able to help you out.

Sometime this week I'm planning on tearing into a few other bikes while I wait for a valve job estimate. I think they are a couple of Suzuki's that my my friend purchased for the forks. But ended up only using one so I bet I can get another bike out of that. Plus he has a project trike that he was wanting to turn back into a bike. We'll see what happens with that.

That's going to be a bit of a project but he's a fabricator who builds custom trikes. www.premiertrikes.com/ he does really nice work. I'm sure you've seen his work around town.

Actually I havent seen any those around , but I really havent been looking for them either.... I work third shift so I tend to live like a mushroom....
Just got this bike at the end of February, new chain/sprockets and an oil change is bout all I've done so far.... plan to check the valves and camchain adj with the help of my friend later this month.
Was contemplating checking my jetting... guy at cycle staion claims you cant change much other than the mains on my carbs so to fix lean issues he wants me to tape my pods....
It's gonna be a hit or miss summer for me... but what the heck. Thats a portion of why I bought this bike... to learn.

Hey I work 3rd shift also. Been looking for someone to hang out with on my days off so I'm not just sitting around. They guy at that shop told me the same thing. To fix a lean problem you can change out the mains and the idle. The motorsports place on k-15 you mentioned should have mains. I know they don't have idles but you can find those online. Also, You can change the needle position but I have not done that yet. If you want help on the carbs I've torn mine apart about 10 times. It's a pretty easy process.

I would say try the guys at Kamikaze but they have to order everything in for most bikes and you can find them cheaper online and get them in about the same time.

Oh I priced some of their stuff when I was headed up to KC one time. Super expensive for no reason. It was like 300 bucks for a set of side panels and some other small parts.
