Thanks 531blackbanshee, I'll keep this as a refference. I wanna see plummens pic sounds like he braced the shit outta his by the way you guys talk. Also I pulled the lower tree and stem fro my 80 model parts chassis, the necks loock the same on both the 80 and 77. I'm assuming that is true. The GSXR stem I have is very close to being the same O.D. as the kz stem. I slid the bearing from the kz over the gsxr stem and I bet it will fit. I need to mic them tomorrow. The stem nuts have the same size threads as well, only the kz uses one nut and gixxer uses 2. 'm gonna try to get my father in law to machine out the weld thats hold the kz stem in and press both stems out so we can see if the kz stem can be made fit the gixxer tree. Has anyone tried this? It looks as if the kz stem is pressed in from the top of the lower tree and then welded around the bottom of the stem. I know if it came down to it I'll probably have to have someone machine an entire stem to fit, my FIL does'nt have metric stuff to do the threads , so I'll have to find someone else here in Houston to do it.

i don't know if the stems are the same size but you should machine the weld off and press it out of the bottom. there is probably a snap ring on the bottom fo the gixxer stem. then you can either press in the kz stem or have bushing made to make it all fit. You haven't seen THE pic? from the looks of the frame bracing on plummens bike hes gonna throw a turbo viper motor in it. keep on wrenchin

Ok so here is a few pics. I've been a bit lazy with the camera lately so there will be more, maybe tomorrow, lol.

This was the lower tree from the front end that the P/O had on the bike. Looks like all they did was spread the clamps out and jam the fork tubes in the. I chopped the lower tree apart and removed the stem, it's nowhere near being the right one for the neck of the KZ.

This is the gixxer front end just mocked up. I'm a little concerned it maybe to low when I get it finished.

Crusty, rusty and a lot of dusty, this shit is gone, my parts bike has some not so cancerous parts I'm gonna rob for this one.

The harness on the 80 is in suprisingly good condition, all the plugs are there and they all disconnected from each other fairly decently. The Batery tray was'nt rotted or covered in corrosion so I'm putting it on the project.

Managed to remove the struts and swingarm as well. Sure seems to be made of some thin metal in my opinion. I may end up ditching it for a sturdier one if possible. I want to run shocks when I drive it on the street and this one would have to be modded for it to pivot like a stock swinger. I guess we'll see. I also need axle adjusters for this one. May have to have them machined. Would be nice with ecentric adjusters.

This is the suzuki wheel that was on it, its a 17x5.5. I have yet to see what the front sprocket looks like n this thing.

Got my father in law to swap the stems for me. He milled off the weld on the kz stem and pressed it out ( presses up out of the tree). Made a bushing to press it into and then pressed it into the gsxr lower tree.

This is it with the upper tree I'm using
