Here is a side view, taken so you are looking straight at the bikes, you can plainly see how much of the Monster sticks out above the KZ.

Thanks Troy!!
Had a rather nasty 50 mph get off on a YZ 250 in the desert. Minor structual damage to me nuggett and right wrist, plus a bonus ripp in me kidney.
I has all the right gear on, boots gloves helmet.
3 days in Trauma, then I got up.... got dressed and asked if I could leave now.
Friday I get a small Titanium plate sort of re-enforcing the cheek bone and some other crumbly stuff in that vicinity.
I feel pretty rock hard, I feel good in fact. The forks must have bound when they bottomed. We found them to be 1/4 in. out of parralell. The bike is me son in laws, other than a ripped grip, had no damage after the get off. He never noticed the violation in the bound up front end.
I jumped about a 25 foot wash, 5th or 6th gear. It was perfect, I remember thinking "its gonna be perfect!!" Then woke up in the dirt. I was out 7-10 minutes. I think I came out of it pretty good. Just proof I am watched over, and there must still be somethin' for me to do here on Earth, cause I ain't done yet.
I think the upper triple sprang up after the forks bottomed and bound breifly, sprang up and must have knocked me out, then there was the preverbeal "lawn dart" into some rather rocky terrain as I must have been unconcious, rag dolling off the bike. I don't remeber any thing strange, I was getting ready to hit the gas on landing, and had even picked the landing spot and the next target feature to aim at.
I still don't fully know what happend, my son in law was 1/4 mile behind me on my XR, he says all he saw was me in the "superman" and then duststorm. I do remember my feet off the pegs somewhat but I have landed the XR (much heavier bike) over I think even the same wash with feet up off pegs.
So KZ completion is delayed yet again, as I cannot use me right hand, left handed everything, and only one hand to boot for 4 more weeks.
The Dr. says no riding for 8 weeks. I says "hey lets settle on 4" Doc says 8. Ahh come on Doc, I know your just worried about liability, how about we agree on 8 and I start riding in 4...how about that?
Doc stays real calm and polite like and says " ok if you ride in 4 and then have even a mild crash...I'll need to open you up, and remove that damaged kidney..understand."
OK!! so I guess it's 8 weeks then huh Doc!!
Yee--Haw!!
I am alive and 50!!
Ride safe Troy!!

Troy, sounds like your lucky to be able to walk away from that. maybe you should take the 8 weeks to rehab. I know, your mind says your only 30 but your body is telling you otherwise.I had a very similar incident a few years ago.spent a week in the hospital. prior to that I never even had a broken bone. I always thought I was invinsible and then I realized I wasnt.give yourself the time then go out there and show the young bucks how its done.

WOW! Ted, I'm so sorry to hear of your crash. I thought you hadn't been posting because you were still mad about that battery incident. It's good to hear that you're still kicking.

Glad to hear u are still with us Ted.
That sounds like a nasty crash. i know what its like to be 1 handed for a while. fortunately i am a bit ambidextrous.
Have fun learning how to wipe with your wrong hand.
Get well soon Bud.

You know what caused it right? When you left the "other" desert, you probably said something like "Wow, not even a scratch!". I guess the desert gods heard you.....

Damn man! Glad your ok. Take doctors advice. Better to take a little longer to heal and do it right then have to go through it over again later because you rushed it. Best to do it right the first time. Hmmm! Think I've heard that before! Sit back and let the family take care of YOU for awhile. I'm sure they will be glad to be at your beckon call for awhile!!!

That sucks Ted, especially the part about the right hand. I am so terminally right handed that when I broke my right shoulder blade, I couldn't do anything. I could barely wipe my ass left handed. No, unfortunately, I'm not kidding. Give it the 8 weeks. You can work on your bike as soon as you can figure out how to do it left handed or the right gets to working again. I'll think about you on my ride this weekend. Gonna go up towards Entiat and see if the snow is all gone. Time for the occasional snort of the 12 year old drink instead of the pain killers. Save those for when you need them. Troy341
