It’s nice to know my project has been an inspiration. I feel the same way. Other project hear have inspired me. That is the great thing about these sites,1 guy inspiring another, then that guy inspires another and on it goes. It’s contagious.
I guess I should up date my project with the latest pics. Thanks for the re- inspiration.

I cut the guage mounts off of my old tree
and welded them to the zx tree
Then I came up with a real hillbilly way to reuse my kz headlight mounting ears on the thicker zx10 forks (remember my budget is not so big then:) )
The nice part is once it's mounted you can't even see the hose clamps from the outside, and they are stainless so they shouldn't rust
Got my zx m.c. installed and bled along with a mirror and put it all together
Got it back down and the ground and stuck the fender I welded back together on it so I could see how everything looked on the ground
fender before
Fender mounted and bike down on the ground
So I just had to take it for a test ride, even thought the front tire is dangerously worn and weatherchecked. I think I lucked out on the speedometer, the zx cable screwed right into the kz gauge and it appears as though it can't be more than 5 m.p.h. off. Other than that it tracks straight and smooth and the brakes are WORLDS better than the stock kz single disc.
Next I need to trim the front fender down, and then tear into the swingarm conv. Thanks again for all your input and opinions!

Still at the dreaming stage, but I've got a bunch of Z1 parts and a GSXR1000 front end sitting in storage. Someday I hope to make a complete motorcycle out of all that stuff. What I'm missing at the moment is a titled frame.

I haven't had much time to work on the bike too much the last couple of weeks, been so busy with other obligations- you know how that goes.
I'm hoping to get back out there in the next week or so and work on the swingarm conversion though.
As an interesting side note, I know myself, as well as others on here have been looking for offset sprockets for a 530 chain other than the americanclassix one. I found out that afam, per their japanese home webite, has released offset sprockets in three different offsets for the kz900/1000. I wasn't able to find anybody here stateside that offered them, but than again I haven't had a chance to look real intensively. Either way the link to afam's website is here-
www.afam.co.jp/E/menu_index/offset.htm
I'll keep yall posted on any progress

An interesting, but pricey, speedo that is quite accuarate is a GPS system. I have seen and even sold my old Garmin for just in excess of $100. To small for using the mapping while riding, but taold speed and recorded highest speed.

What does that sticker say on your gas cap? Dealer?
It say's "Kawasaki of Celina" (Ohio) which is pretty close to me-I live in Ft. Wayne, IN. I thought it was pretty cool so I'm gonna leave it on there-
As far as the zx10 motor beatpoet- the odometer says 8000 miles, I did fire it up and it seems to run fine, I assume it shifts but I can't say that for sure because I never rode it. It will need a valve cover gasket and a clutch slave cylinder- other than that it is complete with all wiring and the lower frame sections that it sits on to make putting it into something else easier. I will take $250 for it, pickup only. PM me if anyone is interested. Still no new progress, I swear if one more thing around the house or in the garage breaks, I'm gonna go nuts!
Thanks,
Ben

not sure if it would interest you,but it is affordable and covers everything plus more, that we need on these old bikes.the generic kit for conventional forks is down towards the bottom.i have ordered one to play with,as i have heard nothing but praise for them.
