If you are willing to haul it to lancaster, and pick up a dirtbike for me on the way :) (I'll pay for the dirtbike). If it is anything like the 650, check your fuses, and you may have a main fuse/strap to check as well. Make sure the run/kill switch is on as on the 650 that switch provides the juice to the coils. With a test light you can check the coils supply by grounding one end and touching the other to the yellow/red wire with the key and switch on. If there is juice to the coils then pull the plugs, lay them on the engine block and turn the bike over to check for spark.

If juice to coils, but no spark, then check your plug wires, then your coils. Also, check the black and green wires from your points (if your bike has inductive ignition you will need to check that as well.

If all of that checks out, you may still have fried something else as the bike should run without the generator, just that your battery will eventually drain to nothing.

If the coils have no power, I would start tracing back up the line and check if the clutch switch is working, if there is a neutral lockout switch, if power is making it to the kill switch, etc.

To start your bike you should only need the battery, coils, points/inductive pickup, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and the mess of wires connecting through various switches.

I once fried a regulator/rectifier on a dirtbike because I welded without disconnecting everything. The bike still ran, but I didn't have power for lights (no battery on that bike) until I replaced the rectifier. Good luck.

Does the bike's wiring diagram show anything such as a clutch switch or kickstand switch that would be open, and not letting the coils get juice?

the other thing is that the head gasket leaks so am changing that tomorrow.
will post pix tomorrow. may 2nd my birthday and the day I was shooting for to be the completion day.

close but no cigar. fixed the oil leaks on the head but the float
on the carb leaks non stop, got just enough $$ left to get
wiredfeorge to build me a new pair. did go for a ride and love
the crap outta this bike.
the only other problem I discovered on the shake down cruise is
when I apply the rear break it feels like the rear is moving to
the right. crabbing is the avaition term , can't think of another
way to put it. the bolts for the rear axle are secure. something
ain't right.. any ideas????
anyway this is it aso far. still need a right side cover.
I have 2 air boxes to trade..

the brace was loose. no more crab.
wired george gave me a fair price on the carbs but he's knee deep in work, its his season, and his turnaround time is 6-8 weeks. I can't wait that long.. :(
so am gonna try to find someone local.I'm a little gun shy since 2 other people messed it up.
gonna build my exhaust while dealing with the carb..
for a free bike this thing is killing me$$$$$$$$$$:S
gonna re do the seat too. I really don't like the way it turned out.maybe a seat off of a kz440..
anyone ever use these type of baffels?? I'm cool with loud but not ticket loud...

got a local mechanic that is going to teach me to rebuild my carb next weekend. #140 mains and #42.5 pilots..
made my collectors for my exhaust pipe and cut the old megaphone one off.
dude has a cool trick for figuring the length your pipes need to be.start your bike and run it for a bit then make a mark starting at the end and drawing a line to the front with a crayon. when it starts to melt thats the length your pipes need to be.. simplicity .. B)
