want to get rid of them?:whistle:i decided that the clip-ons were gonna kill me for the long ride.
what style of damper are you going with? new style up by the top clamp/over the steering stem, or old school style on the side of the bike? you can get cheap(like $30) fairly new dampers that come stock on busas and gixxers that you could mount the old school way. (from guys that upgrade to a new style one) I was thinking about getting 1-2 for my 810 but so far its all kawi parts/aftermarket for kawi/ custom, and I want it to stay that way:P I might get them, file the numbers off the casting, polish them and say "they are universal pieces":whistle: :whistle: :whistle:

yeah, i would probably sell them to offest the money that i dropped on the z1000 clamp, renthal's, and tag mounts.
pm me on that.
i wanna see on the damper. i have a couple other options to see if i can get some rake back. i think the new clamp is going to help me out on this some.
but, if i do go with one, it will probably be a universal application type, where i weld a frame tab on, and either make or buy a tube mount for the fork.
or, just ante up for a scott's or something. $$$$.

As the joint is only around 50mm or less below the clamp, and the joint is clamped between the triples, I dont belive that strength will be compromised.

the extensions would have to accomodate the pre-load adjustors, and the dampening adjuster as well.
very interesting idea tho, thanks for the links dave. might be something that i could work up as well. i'd have to learn a couple more functions of the lathe, like how to cut threads for one. 8^) i'd need to make a boring bar holder as well... not a big deal, just some time.

Fork slugs gained a bad reputation back in the 60s, early 70s when front ends started snapping. They were considered safe as long as the joint was between the triple clamps, but I just don't trust a threaded joint anywhere in my front end. I saw a set of slugs snap on a Triumph back in high school, (the joint was below the lower triple clamp - chopper, 8" extension), I sold mine before even installing them, won't even consider using them.

fossil, are you measuring from the ground to the top or bottom clamp? or are you measuring the free length of the fork tubes?
also, do you have an angle gauge to measure your head stock with?
