won't work to cut the center out of the other sprocket tho.

maybe a dremmel would start off the process and allow what you were trying before

MSC has them HERE

But you also need indexable tool holders Like these

Machining do get expensive, don't it :D

muchas gracias, senor!

you're gonna have to ride it. i'm still planning on coming down for the open house.

it should be running before then. it'll be a shakedown ride.

machining isn't so bad...

machine TOOLS, on the other hand...

dayam.

this is basically my lathe:

www.lathemaster.com/LATHEMASTER9x30Lathe.htm

mine's an older seig, 9x22, and green. bought it from another hobbyist here in town. paid for itself over, and over, and over...

i think, for the cost of that tooling, i will pay joe to make this one.

that guy sells some indexable tool holders, but i think this is a better option for now.

My desire for tooling far exceeds my ability to pay for it.

It's an unending battle, do I spend the money on bike parts, or do I spend it on tooling?

There is never enough for both :(

I have old American iron (in good condition), a 12x36 Sebastian, a Gorton vertical mill, and a Delta Rockwell drill press.

Solomrus.Love your bike ,looks GREAT. Going back a bit to the triple crown.Would do you think it would be any easier to cut off the zx6 stem drill out and press in kz stem then weld?Rather than make a spacer? I'm getting close to doing zx12 trees on my kz.

mark1122, thanks man!

in regards to your plan: i think what you propose is just as viable as what i did. the 636 stem that i used was alloy, so welding to that was not an option, were i to use that bored out.

there are different ways to skin the cat, i guess is what i am saying. whatever is best for your capabilities.

steell: you have stated it succinctly. 8^) the key is to make the tooling pay for itself.

sounds like a nice little shop you have. no mill, here, yet... it's one of those, i'll pick one up when i find the right one kind of deals... i keep my eyes open for domestic iron, but not too closely. as you so cleverly noticed, i am spacially challenged. 8^)

whelp.

i ended up just having a custom sprocket made for me. it's working out really well.

a little clearancing on the inside of the stock sprocket cover, or i can just use the pmfr clutch plate that i have. haven't decided for sure yet on this.

i just ordered the z1000 top clamp that i am planning to use with the conversion. it will allow me to use risers from tag or renthal to mount up some fat bars. checking on those now, as well. i think that this upper clamp might also offer me some other options to mount my headlamp as well. i've been vacillating on how best to do this part.

i have a weekend by myself coming up. so, i can dedicate some good solid time to my bike. i have some work to get out of the way for my customers, but i think i should be able to come up with several contiguous hours to put into this.

it's *very* close to moving under it's own power.
