I too was a member here for awhile before I bought my KZ. I had hurt my back at a fire in the fall of last year and wasn't able to get a bike and wasn't SURE I would EVER be able to. But I got better and here I am.Got a bike,two actually now. I am sure my mental state has gone downhill hanging around here ..LOL:blink: :blink: :blink: :blink:

eBay auctions often bump up by $1.50 or $2.50 increments. I just sniped a bid for a seat on eBay, I usually add a few cents into the bid- you might just beat someone else who bid the even dollar amount. Plus its fun to confuse people with the extra 37 or 68 cents or whatever....
Shhhh.... Stop giving away secrets...... I've bought plenty of stuff for .63 cents over the previous bidder....

Looks to be a '78 C2 model. Actually the disc brakes are '79 or later. Maybe someone converted your B with mag wheels? The tank badges are '77~'78.
The VIN # on the stearing head will tell for sure. The engine numbers all had a B in them.

And about the discs..is that because they are drilled or what? As I recall the 78 SRs were NOT drilled. What was the first year for dual discs in general? Single disc? My 79 has the dual drilled discs...Oh say THAT really fast!

According to the frame label and stamp it's B born 1/78.Welcome. Great score! Low mileage as well. She should have lots of life left in her.

No spark...The wiring is pretty much a mess so I have to dig into that before we can get her running(good compression though).
Little rust in the tank but no big deal.
Right shock is bent pretty bad (just gonna get 2 new ones)
Needs 2 tires.
Front signals are missing, rears are mis-matched.
This bike is a B with apparently C wheels and brakes. There is a master cylinder in the back but it was just banded to the frame with the hardware nowhere in sight.
Question is how hard is it to make this setup work? Yes, i've seen a couple posts about it but I can't get my mind around what all needs to be done. Would it just be easier to get a stock set of spokes.
All in all I'm still pretty pleased with my purchase. I was hoping to get her started last night but oh well.

If you pick up a used wiring harness at any point, go through it with a fine toothed comb and make sure there are no bad wires, solder points, connections, etc. I didn't and ended up with a wire fire under my gas tank, it'll be well worth the time checking through the harness to make sure that doesn't happen.
The electrical and charging systems are the only glitches I've had with my 77 and they weren't too hard to fix once I figured them out, and every time I climb on and she starts on the first kick (no matter what the temperature is) I can't help but grin.
