Ted how are you. Hope you had good holidays.
I had a can chain guide break internally and needed to take the motor apart. In doing so we found a stuck ring on one piston. I can save the piston however I need to fine an exact ring. Can you tell me what piston and ring was used.
I know it s a 998 . However other 998 I have seen do not have the dome these have.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have to pull the needle bearings to mill the suspention linkage to the spacing of the mainstand mount brackets.
It was very difficult, i need a lot ot pressure, heat and the right bearing puller to get them out.

Had to mill 10 mm on both sides.

Made some brass tube sleeves for the Z1 16 mm OD swing arm pivot to press and glue into the 20 mm ID GSXR needle bearing tubes.

and have to shorten the stainless steel foot rest bolts to not to collide with my GSXR swing arm.

more to come later this week.....

I was very diligent today.
My heard was bleeding but have to do the final cut off to the hangers for the 4 in 4 and rear break pedal.
I need the space for the new GSX-R 1100 WP/WR (93-94) i have shot for 175 Euro on e-bay privat sells with all
suspention parts, wheel axis, swing arm pivot, chain gard, rear brake caliper with new brake pads.
The swing arm is 600 mm long, (eye to eye) and 60 - 80 mm longer as my excentric swing arm.
The swingarm to frame width is 232 mm and is plug and play to the frame. Only the swing arm chain rubber buffer
need some some cuts. My rear wheel with sprocket hub, rear caiper hub and all spacers fits a little tight in .
My old swing arm opening width is 250 mm and i have to remove 0,50 mm on right side spacer to get an easy wheel in and out.
Wheel is in the middle and sprokets/chain alignments looks perfect. Need a longer 630 chain with 6 extra links.
Don´t want to do a 530 chain conversion now, all sprockets are like new.
So far so good here are the pics.

........and three beers later

more coming soon

I believe you will find a tire that wide (at least 6.25") will cause problems. Better measure things, including drive chain clearance, very carefully before spending $$$ Ed

Cognito moto hooked me up with the custom stem I needed. No crazy machining needed, just press in the replacemnt (longer) stem.

I have installed the 2011 GSXR Showa front end on my kz, BTW. and the Suziki bandit 1200 swing arm.

I was contemplating using newer kawasaki stuff, but suzki info is readily available.

Some little news to my project bike.
I could not resist and have to buy some parts for the long winter evenings.
Bought a mono swing arm/Susuki motor frame conversion kit,Kawasaki frame bracing kit and a gsxr 1100 Motor for 250 Euro from Z-Fever.de.
Does anyone know if it is worth to do a engine swap like this???
I need some opinions.

Can anyone running a GS1100 swinger on a KZ1000 tell me the length of your brake torque link?
I am working on another GS swing arm.
I want to make a torque rod / link. Just want to know the eye to eye length of one running on a KZ1000 with disc brake.
Thanks. Picture is a stock Suzuki GS 1100 81-83.

Hello Everyone!!! Here is the Sunday Update!!!
Not much progress this week. I sand blasted the tank, found more rusted area, the plan now is to look for a good looking petrol cap and fit it before I close the tank.
I reshaped the metal where the dents were, I would need some filter to make it smooth.
I am very busy this next week, so I will just try to removed the rest of the rust and spray an anti rust inside the tank. Than If I have time I will start to fibre glass it.

I manage to cut the frame and test some shapes for the seat, but I am not liking. I two days ago, bough a swingarm from a Ninja Ex250 2010 which should arrive on Thursday or Friday, from my research is a direct fit. The advantage is that It has mountings for the caliper which would hopefully ease the conversion.

After fitting the swingarm, I will decide whether to modify the subframe to make the seat thinner, and push the shock mounting forward. But it still need to be decided. Here are the picture of the work done this week.
Thank you!!!

thank god I found you guys.. Happy Thanksgiving ..

So I bought a 1983 Kz750 twin ltd belt drive for $300 in pretty good shape typical "hasnt ran in ten years" .. What I thought was just a stuck piston ended up being a seized lower end...

So I got back on the marketplace and found a basketcase of a 1987 Kz750 twin with a good motor but frame is all chopped up and the wiring is a mess... but its chain drive (woohoo) its got the spoked wheels (woohoo) and a set of gold mags with disc brakes and caliper... all for $200 with no title..

so I started the swap last night and quickly found out the belt drive swing arm is almost an inch wider then the chain drive swing arm.. you cant just swap swing arms because the shocks on the LTD are actually sitting wider on the frame. So i think im going to just keep the wider swing arm and try and make a spacer for the axle bolt..

well that was the first hurtle .. looking at the motors all the mounting locations are the same.. so that doesnt seem to be a problem but the wiring is a little different. the plugs arent the same..

would it be easier to swap wiring harnesses then try and make the 83 harness work on the 87?
i tried finding wiring diagrams for both with no luck, also tried searching the forums for other people that may have ran into a similar situation .

thanks guys
also will be parting out a lot of this stuff when im finished
