So I picked up the CBR swingarm today. It to is not asymmetrical just like the gsxr swingarm. The brace is though

So off comes the brace

GSXR swingarm gets flipped right side up, and CBR brace is mocked up on the bottom. Looks like lots of chain clearance. I do want to get a proper pitch/offset front sprocket, make up bushing for pivit, adjust chain slack, just to make sure nothing is going to rub.

Suggestions for removing the drive sprocket when you can't step on the rear brake? Something I can hold on the dyno or clutch side? Otherwise I'll make a tool that slips over the sprocket so I can hold it.
I purchased a 700 lbs air impact hammer gun. Put it on bolt .... it took about 10 seconds but came off no problem.....had red locktite on it also.

I actually bought a stock swing arm and was gonna extend it and widen it myself but found a KOSMAN extended widened swingarm on Craigslist for only 120! Im gonna buy it so if anyone needs a swingarm I will have 2 extra. 1 is stock with bushings and swingarm bolt and the other is an extended 6 inch swingarm without bushing just bolts on if you need one to make hard tail.

Thanks guys for the compliments.
I'll answer a few questions posted.
The stacks were on the bike from the last time I rode it, that was at the strip. I always ran K&N pods on the street but the bike picked up quite a bit with the stacks.
The swingarm is not braced, just the base model. I can't remember any model number or anything, sorry but it's been a long time & I'm getting kinda old.
I'll post a picture from the other side & add it to this post if that's okay.
I live at the foot of Deals Gap and set the bike up years ago to ride in the twisties. Besides the wheels and swingarm I installed S&W Street Stroker shocks, fork brace and front springs (can't remember the brand)and the bike did well for what it was back in the day.
I love just about all bikes but lean toward the old school look even though I own a ZX14. I always liked the looks of the ZRX's and found a clean one 7 years ago that I still have. I installed a Turbo-Tec turbo kit six years ago and the bike is a hoot.
Here's a shot of me & momma strolling thru the Dragon.

I actually joined four years ago and have been lurking from time to time but never made a post until while ago in the carb section.
I have a '78 1000 that I bought new 34 years ago last June. I've installed a couple piston kits over the years, first a 1075 then about 8 years ago I rebuilt it with a 1105 kit.
I have the old RC 388 cams with Ti retainers and V&H did the headwork. I've had the Dymags and Cal-Fab swingarm on it since the early eighties.
I'm in the process of tearing it down to powdercoat the frame and give it some much needed love.
Here's a shot of the bike right before pulling it up on the lift.
Great to be here,
Dan

Runnin with the big dogs takes money but that mioney needs to be spent in the right places. JMC aint it PDM Near indianapolis Indiana Quality options and personal service
seeen em up close use some of their stuff since they cut their teeth on arms its my opinion if your buying any other name its because either you have too much money or your uninformed
the website should be up soon but they been building arms for years not that customer service is an issue on a race or street arm if its needed its there.
an arm onlt cost so much, paint powder coat polish and chrome all add to building them you decide what you want they mwkae it happen
PDM or call some of our reputable suppliers and pay their markup for other names or buy direct call me I'll be the middle man lol Can have you a swingarm in a few weeks colormatched chrome polished powdercoater whichever. JMC is no longer someone else bought a name someone would spend 1200 for. the rest is what it is.

Yes I did Leon. That looks good. Lots of good fabrication ideas on here. I'll either go that route, make a new caliper bracket on the mill or rotate the caliper to the bottom and make a stay arm. Just have to see what look I like. Should get the swingarm next week, then I'll start mocking things up.

You need to run alcohol injection for the 3rd stage pulley which I think puts it in the 135whp range ish.

I seen that thread, I actually like the brace on the top vs bottom. The zx14 is a simple swingarm look, so I was thinking zx14 swingarm, zx6 wheels with extra spacers as I thinking Id rather have the 5.5 rear vs 6. and a zx 6-10 front.

Picked up my newer parts today. 05 zx10r wheels with brakes and masters, forks, swingarm, clip ons and rear sets. Swingarm and rear wheel are probably a no go. Dont think I want to go the distance on frame revision to make it work with a 6" wheel. They were just a bonus in the package anyways. The rear sets look like they bolt right on after reaming up the mounting holes, but will require a closer look. Left appears to interfere with the kick stand. Got no triple clamps, but I think I'll just make those anyways. Slabs of aluminum with precision holes are kind of my specialty. Doubt the clip ons will be of much use either, will have to see. Someone cut off the foot pegs, but I think I have a pair that will fit. Why you would want 2" long pegs is beyond me.
Can't decide where that rear brace needs to sit. Up much more and it interferes with the battery box. Lower I have to worry aboout the chain. Guess it's going to float for a while.
