well thanks guys,
Could someone show a good closeup of said shock system? Dumb question here, but does the shock work reverse of how a normal one would? How do the linkages work?

Here's a pic of the Buell set up that I mentioned, but I can't offer any info on how it works. The shock is definitely very far from vertical. I'm guessing that it does work in reverse, but I'm not sure. The linkages would determine exactly how it works, and we really can't see them from this pic.

I would bet $50.00 that the design of that shock is significantly different than one that is mounted vertically.

Yes, I think Buell has a shared patent with HD for its highly secretive and technologically complex "anti-gravity shock absorber" technology. They are also working with NASA on some space shuttle issues.
