I got offered a set of Mikuni VM29 smooth bore carbs and would like to know what members here think would be a "swap meet" type price.

Condition is : Fully assembled rack of carbs with no missing parts.
Was sitting on a shelf for a lot of years collecting dust.
Slides and choke operate but the bowls have not been removed.

What would be a fair offer $$$ wise?

I've seen them for $1200. They seem the rage for our bikes. The 33's aren't going for as much but anything period is commanding good prices.

Check eBay "SOLD" listings.  Search Mikuni Smoothbore, VM29 smoothbore, keywords like these.

I'd say $800 is a ballpark price for a set.  Realize, that fees will eat up 13% of that, though.

There is a set on Ebay right now, "bidding starting" at $800 (modified/broken parts) and another "by it now" at $1870, so quite a range.

I think $800 in the condition that they are in would be a good place to start.

Thank You All.

I bought a complete set of VM33's last year for $450 so I consider that a very good price (complete but disassembled)

This morning I saw these VM29's with my own eyes, nothing missing or broken and slides are mint. The slides were lubricated before storage.

It ends up a widow is selling off a enthusiasts parts collection, and these were in a parts bin.
They were offered to me but I declined due to that entry price a few of you agreed on (too rich for my current situation)
I also really do not need them as I have way too many sets of other carbs I can choose from for my future builds.

There were plenty of other people on the list after me, so they may already be spoken for (saw them at 9 AM, its now close to 5 PM here)

Thanks again for the information.

I think the VM29's are the best carbs on the KZ900/KZ1000 - until you get to 1200cc or bigger - then the bigger RS 34's are better.  Just putting a set of 29's on a stock KZ1000 will perk it up.  The VM26's are really a little too small IMHO to do the KZ1000 engine justice - but the EPA/DOT mandates on emissions almost certainly influenced Kawasaki to go small.
