Hi guys,

My vacuum operated petcock on the Kz900A4 is dripping fuel when the engine is off, from the main fuel outlets, which makes the carbs overflow or even gas into the oil.

I´m trying to find a repair kit for the petcock, but cannot find a reference. All part providers list my petcock as gravity, but mine is vacuum.

Here are some pictures. 2 fuel outlets and one vacuum inlet. ON-RES-PRI positions.

Can someone show me the way here? Perhaps this petcock is used in some other model that I can find a repair kit for?

Thanks a ton in advance.

C.

1976 A4-900 did not use that tank. Looks like you might have a late ‘77 to ‘78 Kz1000 A tank. Try here

That's a 1978 kz1000 tank and petcock, 76 a4 would be a manual big nut type.

Thank you. My bike has "strange" things going on... like a rear disc, the trapezoidal brake pump, etc...

The problem with rebuilding petcocks is finding the proper parts.  Kawasaki has discontinued many of the required diaphragm, seals, and O-rings, in order to do a proper job.  And aftermarket petcock rebuild kits are typically JUNK.   Unless OEM parts can be located, you would be better off sourcing a new petcock.  Measure hole to hole size, make note of nipple orientation and clearance requirements on the bike, then go hunting places like Z1 and ebay.

Thank you. I totally agree with you. I am trying to find which other bikes use the same petcock, so I can get a new petcock. So far, I have not been able to find any

Here is a pic of a single feed Pingel petcock just installed on my 1976 KZ900.  A lot of riders and restorers of these classic bikes are recommending using a high quality petcock (like a Pingel)
to replace an OE type such as yours.
