Well, I had posted awhile back about a way to fix the float bowl overflow spout broke off and I had used JB weld to fix it, but it doesn't seem to last forever. I just went to start the bike and the fourth carb was continuously overflowing. So my question now is, what coud be used instead of JB Weld which would hold up to constant gas exposure? So any advice would be awesome!

Does anyone know what the carb bodies are made of? Would help in figuring out how to repair.

I've used JB Weld before without problem but you do have to leave it about 24 hours to set first. An alternative approach would be to get a bit of thin brass tubing at a Hobby store .......just wide enough to slip over the existing overflow tube.....and solder it at the bottom. I've done this also.

Good Luck

I am not too sure what the carb bodies are made out of. I don't remember also if I let it sit for 24 hours also, so that might be another problem that I may have had. Did you use the putty kind which you just mixed with your fingers or did you get the kit with the two tubes which you mixed together?

The die castings are probably not Aluminum but Zinc. Zinc is used for automotive parts especially where you have a lot of small details.

Good Luck.

i was thinking about zinc, but didnt sound right for some reason but i think thats what the stock bodies are made of ,i think aftermarket carbs are aluminum bodies theyre quite a bit lighter.;)

I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS!

But, hear that the Harris #52 flux with #52 solder is good for zinc casting repais.

If anyone wants to buy me some, I'll be happy to have a go at repairing their cast zinc part...

How about grabbing a set of carbs of ebay... You'll have loads of spare parts...then you won't have to deal with trying to repair the broken spout, you can toss it in the trash.
