So quick question I bought a new oil filter bolt when i first started to work on this bike wasn't sure if i was going to need it or not. So just pulled the oil filter and was not surprised to see a cheap filter in it but looking at the two bolts they are different and the new one says it replaces the old style my question is which one do you think is better for the bike?   Thanks again for all the help this forum keeps providing me i tent to spend a few hours a day reading.

I would use the original one if it's still good.  If it was good enough for the design engineers back in the day it's good enough for me.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Thank you I was thinking the same thing but didn't know if the new design was known to be better. Well now i wait a couple days for parts I should have known better with this bike but didn't order a filter spring and the surprises keep coming other than the spring missing and a cheap filter the metal filter cup was on top of the filter not on the bottom. Some people really should not be allowed to use tools or work on things

On some models the cup goes on top, on others it goes on the bottom.
There is also a flat washer that goes between the spring and the filter.

Well... the tag on the new bolt's package sez Honda along with a Honda part#.  Are you sure it's correct for your bike?

Honestly, the OEM bolt's hex head looks OK.

Is this for the Z750 ?
Use the original bolt.
There's nothing wrong with it and it will certainly be better than the pattern Emgo item.

Sorry guys I really need to figure out how to add that to my profile.  the bike is a 1981 kz750h ltd and yes I know it does say Honda on the front but on the back it list a bunch of Kawasaki's that it also fits.  I bought it off of z1 enterprises when I first started working on the bike figuring that the bolt would be all messed up and rounded.  Everything I have been able to find from my manual to partzilla  shows that it should be cup, spring, washer, and then filter.  Thanks again for all the input guys.
