In the back of my mind I've been kicking around getting a 1000. I know of a guy getting ride of a ZR1 with a 1147 kit in it for 800 I can probobly offer him 600 and he'll take it due to his rotator cuff being torn and the bike has been sitting for 5 or more years. Dash is cracked surface rust everywere. Kicks over fine and seems to have decent compression.

A guy walked into the shop this morning as I just sighned off KZR and was looking at the bike. He offered $1250 and I said OK just because I thought he was playing with me. Now paint this picture a black man weighting, I know more then 310 pounds at 6 foot 2 inches tall. Asking to buy my little 650:sick: . You see how I thought he was playing with me. He is serious:huh: .. What do you guys think

I know I know ZR1!

Only question is how much work does it need and of course$$$. I saw it under a tarp, yes a tarp 3 years ago and it was rusty then. Who knows know??????
The only thing I know about it is that when it ran it ran great. No one at work with onother KZ would come close to it. And there are 1000, 900, gpz ,etc at the place I work at. Descisions decisions

He's got to be kidding you. If he shows you $1200 cash, snap it up and run.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Seems like I'm always saying "don't sell!" when I read theses posts.
You've got a good, running 650 that you've put some time and money into. Keep it, and buy the ZR1. Two bikes don't take up much more room than one bike. Besides you need a runner while your wrenching on your project bike.

If your bike is in the same shape as the pics then $1200 would be a very fair price. Very nice original 650's go for around $2000 so if he brought you $1200 for your bike I would snag it up quick, fast and in a hurry. You might have to spend some money getting the Z1R (not ZR1) on the road but you have a much more valuable bike when you are done. Think of it this way. You could spend $500 getitng your 650 in perfect shape and you are left with a $2000 bike. Or you could sell it for $1200, buy the ZR1 for $600, spend $1000 getting it on the road and pretty. So for $1600 invested you could have a bigger, faster, more valuable bike. A Z1R in decent but not perfect shape si worth around $5000. Seems like and easy choice to me

My plan is to buy the ZR1 fix it up with the left over money.
There is only one problem the frame I was going to use for the project bike is the bike that this guy wants. So were do I find a title????????
