Portable (on board or helmet fixed)-video camera,...any

I'm thinking about maybe buying a portable camera for motorcycling. I'm a complete beginner in this area, though, so I have no idea how best to attach it to my helmet or motorcycle, how to turn it on and off while riding, whether it's compatible with my PC, if I need any special software, etc. And of course, how much such equipment costs. I'd like to film a few of my rides... Can you recommend anything? Thanks!

Any suggestions / recommendations, maybe on the ebay plattform?...it´s just an idea, when i sit here in the off-season and thinkin´about my future rides i will do this year ;-)

I have found behind my windshield is the best place for lack of wind noise. Lots of cheap[ cams out there. Some are good and some are lousy. I've been using these lately. Had to cut holes in the case for clear sound.

I have a GoPro Hero 4 and a Hero 9, mostly to record my motorcycle rides, snorkeling and riding a kayak. My GoPro's are used, and I purchased them on Ebay. Throughout the years I have purchased so many camera brackets and adapters, it is simply ridiculous. Hahaha

Most action camera motorcycle adapters work for DJI OSMO Action 6/5 Pro, Gopro Hero, OSMO Pocket, and Insta360 cameras. I prefer GoPro's because I've been using them for so long, I feel most comfortable with them. I am trying to avoid learning how to use a different brand.

Not sure if you plan to edit your videos using your phone or a desktop computer. With a laptop you will need video editing software. If using your cellphone then you need to install software apps to do the editing on your phone. My best suggestion to you is to check out YouTube for the brands I listed and go from there before you spend your money.

I recently bought one of these GoPro clone cameras to video my AFR gauge when I am riding to try and tune my jetting.

I plan to mark off my throttle and call out the throttle setting thru a microphone under my helmet. The base camera did not come with the external mic so I had to buy that separate. The waterproof case did not have a slot to run the mic plug into it so I cut one on my milling machine with a 1/8" end mill.

I bench tested the mic with my helmet on and it works as it should. The real test will be on the bike.

I am not sure if I am going to use a tank bag mount or a chest mount harness. I have both options with the accessories kit.

The AFR gauge is meant for car use so I built a housing and handlebar mount. I want to be able to zoom into and film that  aguge face while calling out my throttle settings.

The O2 sensor I am using is going to be run on the back on one of my muffler tips (dual exhaust) I built a housing for it to screw into and a bracket that mounts to the frame.

I know this is not a perfect solution to tuning it but its a compromise and will get me in the ball park as far as jetting a unusual combination (VM33 Smoothbores with a air box)

I recently bought one of those "cheap" cameras in a transparent plastic case for next to nothing. I attached it to the left side of my handlebars... surprisingly, it does everything it's supposed to, takes pretty good video recordings... it's fun, and I can view and save the footage directly on my PC via a card reader using the small chip card. It even has sound. The only problem is sending it by email; the recipients can't open and view it. ;-(

Video file size is usually too big to send via email, that is where having a YouTube channel comes in handy. Other media sharing platforms are also available to view from but I have not investigated too much as I already have a YouTube channel.

Googlemail converted it automatically if the size is too big, but if my addressed receiver have no googlemail account, it doecnt work, ( receivers told me..hmmm)
But it´s not so important,... i make my movies not to share with the whole world :-)  i am full satisfied by wathing them after riding here at home,..or for the wintertime, when riding isn`t possible for me,...its amazing:
When i watched it, its like i am on the bike......fine technology, ( for me, as an "stoneage-PC- and all the connected-equipment stuff"...hahaha,Reminds me of the early 80s when I made short motorbikeriding-films with a Super 8 camera.

I've been using an Akaso Brave 4 for several years. It's an old model but for some reason it is still available on Amazon for under $100US.

Think I paid under $50 for mine but that was a long time ago, before the prices of everything went up. :(
