9/11 hit very close to home for me. Flight 93 that went down in Shanksville PA, is a mile from my aunts home. They moved there in 1967 and I would spend summers with them when I was in public school. I still visit my aunt as often as I can, was there this past August. It is just over 3/4 of a mile from her front door to the visitor center.

Yeap, Alaska is definitely a state. I lived there all through the 80's, and was a proud member of the Alaska Army National Guard for 6 yrs. I was with an Airborne unit and we basically patrolled the very long border with Russia. Thankfully not much happened. If I was younger I'd gladly do it again. Also still got the old head gear from back then.
