Hi all

does anyone know why there is a switch in the KZ1000 and LTD1000 covers. The KZ1000 one is still wired. Anyone ever seen this? Another forum thinks it’s a custom deal. thought over here?

thanks in advance for any help.

Some PO probably used it as a lock out...  Is it spring loaded, or just on/off?

It is NOT stock.

It doesn’t feel like it has a spring. Just on/off.
not sure what it was connected to.

hm.  PO? Police Officier? Odd colors for Police bikes but maybe. Just odd.

PO = previous owner.

That is downright bizarre that you have two of those. Never seen or even heard of such.

Maybe two drug runners that wanted an easy way to kill all of the lights?

Waaay, back in the day... (early 90's) the starter button on my ST failed and I wired up a switch (momentarily on) to trigger the starter. It was a simple by-pass and if you didn't know about it, the bike would not start... for anyone! ...and there was a "process".

But these can be used for most anything... turn something on or off. It's not needed and can "go away"... or be used, your choice.

Switch could be for anything  aftermarket
Kill lights to sneak around  and away from cops
Arm a nitrous system
Power fog lights
Power deer whistles
Or what ever you can think  of

In days past I may or may not have had a switch or two similar to that to kill lights. I heard it was easier to “elude” certain blue people that didn’t like street racing. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I had one like that to turn on and off the regulator when it was boiling the battery.
