Which color for 74 Z1? was created by Robb2018
Trying to decide on a color scheme for my 74 Z1. I understand that only the green/yellow and brown/orange were available that year. Is this right? I plan on keeping this bike but will probably decide to sell it at some point. I prefer the color schemes from 75 over the 74 but am wondering how much having a color that was not available for that year will effect the value of the bike. I should add, it's not like I hate the 74 colors, just prefer the burgundy/gold or blue/gold. Thoughts?

How close to original is the rest of the bike? Original restorations, including the correct year paint scheme, are worth significantly more if you decided to sell. However, if the bike has a bunch of other modifications or incorrect parts, it's not going to be a premium priced collector market bike anyway. If that's the case, paint it how you like and enjoy it.

I'm going to take my time and do it right. Everything not stock on this bike, which is considerable, is going back. So I guess that settles it, brown and orange it is. Thanks.

And the 74 brown/orange looks better than the green/yellow!

Yes it's definitely better. Plus a lot of people feel green bikes are unlucky. And if you think a green bike is unlucky, you just made it unlucky.

Sorry but I am biased to colour schemes for that year!
