Aluminum 5 bar tread plate????

The problem is that I don't want to use the commonly found diamond plate but rather the 5 bar pattern.
I can't find any around me, at least not any that don't want me to buy a Like a 5'x5' piece special order. This is much more than I need and the shipping on one sheet is stupid.
Anyone know where I should check for this stuff? I could probably get away with a 3'x3' or two 2'x2' pieces.

I'd grab those but the shipping is killer. I'll keep that I mind. If that's the only option I guess I'll get some from there.
There's a supply on my way home maybe I'll corner someone there to see if they know where I can get it for less cost.

I work in a machine shop and our suppliers won't order just a small sheet, at least not for a decent price OR the bean counter won't let me order personal material.martin_csr wrote: Maybe try a metal working shop or machine shop. Or a trailer place that makes custom trailers.
I've checked with a few metal fab shops and they have never had anyone ask for 5 bar as opposed to diamond in this area so they've never ordered it.
I'll check a few more places before I break down and order the Amazon stuff. At least I'll do it on Amazon Smile and give some money to Mike Rowe Works Foundation.

Funny you mentioned Shapiro, Leon. I live about 20mins from them and go there from time to time for some of my metal. Their weekday business hours are when I work but I can sometimes get there on Saturdays.

I was unaware that the 5-bar/basket weave/checker (aka chequer) tread plate was so exotic in this area.
All the suppliers I've been able to find around here tell me they would have to order it from "back East" and would have to charge me a similar amount.
Hard to swallow when I can get a 24"x24" sheet of diamond plate at Lowe's or Home Depot for less than $20.
I'll give it some more thought and keep looking. I won't need it until the tail end of this project anyway.
