81 spectre 1100 tank on 81 kz750

Hi Everyone,

I'm just bought a 81 spectre 1100 tank and I've never tired to swap out a tank on a motorcycle but that being said but I was wondering if anyone here had tried something similar or if anyone had some tips on mounting and restoring the tank.

You'll figure it out soon enough, but from the diagrams at Partzilla the tanks mount differently at the rear.
The 750 has a bolt & hardware w a tank bracket, while the 1100 has a tab & rubber damper and it's probably bigger & longer than the 750 tank.

That's not a Spectre fuel tank. That type of fuel cap was found on the 70s models & some from the 1980 model year. A pic of the underside might be helpful.

I don't see the hinge to mount it on the kz750 on the back part of the tank. I think its going to need some more mods until it fits. Thanks for all the help fellas

That's a 70s style tank, possibly from a KZ900 or 1000A fuel tank. The tab at the rear is for a fuel tank band to secure it.
Put it on your 750 spectre to check the fit.
