1000E, NOT MY BIKE:
Anyone know if that tail fairing would fit an '82 CSR?
1000CSR, NOT MY BIKE:
My '82 CSR1000 has no rear fender or tail parts. Since I gotta replace them, I wondered if I might not be able to use the E-model tail?

Go to the Paint & Bodywork forum, about a month or so ago I posted a link to someone who made this conversion...it is a long post and buried in the 28 pages of the thread, is a description of how fabbed the tail piece to the frame.

So, the tail piece is the same as the North American KZ1000J1, J2, J3; KZ750L-series; KZ750R1;, GPz1100B1, B2; KZ1000R1, R2; and KZ1100R1. It is possible to fabricate this tail piece to fit your motorcycle and has been done by a KZR member. I'll do some digging to find the thread and post it here.

Yes, it's fixed. McDroid edited his original post 722353 which now includes the following working link:
Click here > www.kzrider.com/forum/11-projects/169462...z1150-from-a-csr1000
Quoted versions of the pre-edited post contain the original inoperable link.
After editing, McDroid's original post 722353 now reads as follows:

As for changing the arse on your bike,I did the same with my CSR (Link below somewhere) but I went for the classic ducktail. I bought a fiberglass repro from ebay and of course it didnt fit so I had to chop it up and remodel it. Id never played with fiberglass before but it was pretty striaghtforward,(though a lot of work).I was very happy with the result.
If you get hold of an original Kawasaki arse, itll be plastic so a whole different process. I dont know if itll be easier to modify iit but I would doubt it.

Ironically, my CSR came with an original, made in Japan, KZ900? KZ1000? tail fairing but I just can't get into it on this bike. Dunno why. The 1000e tail reminds me alot of my 550a's hiney:
and again, I don't know why but I dig this look.
Well, I really appreciate the help on this guys and also McDroid - you RoCk! for digging the old thread outta mothballs for me!
