Two stage Clear Coat was created by missionkz
I bought a can of that 2 stage catalyzed clear coat to reclear my KZ1000A tank....

usa.spraymax.com/index.php?id=851

It looks great when applied and very glossy, Lays very flat.
I got three very thick coats on it with no runs.
However, since I no longer have a booth... I did it outside on a calm and warm day.
Needless to say no matter how careful.. crap still got in the clear and the dry time with no external heat or IR is like 10-12 hours.
So I figured just wait a while ...days ... and I'll wet sand it out.
Very little orange peel was a SUPER bonus.
However, this stuff is like pig iron to sand!!
I started with 1000g. to 1500g, to 2000, to 2500 and finally to a 3000g sponge pad.
Smooth as a baby's behind....
But JEEZE LOUIS, this stuff is impossible to hand buff! It is so damn hard I can not believe it.

Yes it is a two tone and I have not put the stripes on yet.
It took me about 4 hours to get it an acceptable polish.

Thanks Bruce. I saved it. Going to be painting my spare tank. I might even put the 75 decals on this time. B)

Are you planning to clear the tank again after adding decals, and if so how come you polished the tank at this point?

My decals are $90 and I have to paint the black stripe first.

Steve dont let the decals sit for too long, as they do dry out, and become hard to peel off.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Used that stuff to rescue an H1 tank that had a bad reaction to the clear.

Good stuff but pretty toxic to use. Respirator is mandatory.

Yes they warn of the toxicity of it.
I did it outside wearing a standard dust mask with a damp hanky (like a cowboy "bandit") over the top of that.
Kept my back to what ever air movement there was and turned the tank instead of walking around it.
I had zero ill effects.
