Compatible tanks? was created by wtoconnor
I have an 84 kz700, and im finding that there are much more parts and options for 550/650/750/1000's than there are for the 700s. (new to kz's, still learning alot). im wondering what other kz tanks are easily swapped to replace the one i've got with minimal to no modification.

Pics of the underside might help.

If you have the KZ700-A1 model, then you actually have a rare motorcycle...there were only 2000 sold. The flip side is that many parts from 750's are interchangeable, particularly those from the 'L' series 750's. Is there something wrong with your fuel tank? Is the reason for replacement functional or stylish?

In the USA I'm pretty sure the only options are the 82 750-R1, 83 750-L3 & of course the 700-A1.
Outside the US there were also the L1, L2 & L4. not sure if they all had the same tank, probably at least the L2 & L4.
Partzilla is a handy place to compare the diagram drawings.
Other than those, the 750E tank is probably the closest match, but I have no idea about the fitment. At minimum it will take some finagling at the rear mount. It could be as simple as bending the rear mount upwards. maybe not, though.

Yes I'm coming to find out how rare the bike is, I can't find anything for it. Mine has a debt the size of a softball in it. Plus I'm going for a street tracker look and want a smoother looking tank like off a 550 or 650.
