Part interchangeability. GPZ / ELR/ KZ

I'm looking for a nice clean tail cowl for my ELR. Are the tail cowls from KZ700,GPZ750and GPZ1100(81-82),Kz1000J1/J2/J3. I know the part numbers are all different but that can be due to color of part(Doesn't matter since I'm painting it). I just need to know if they all interchange or are the KZ700(and in Canada KZ750) dimensionally different to their big brothers

KZ700 tail on my GPz750 if that helps.

I think GPzMOD750 says alot. All you mentioned have the same tail piece (differing in paint, of course). Since you are in Canada, don't forget to include the KZ1100R in your searches.

Others that interchange. (KZ or Z) 750L, 750P aka GT750. I look for 750 parts but the 1000 & 1100, counterparts, 1000J for example, most likely fit. Not so much the 550 stuff.

That's right! It has a tail rack instead of a cowl.

Kawasaki mixed and matched stuff. The tank, fenders, handlebars and instrument cluster are the same. Not the side panels or tail. Same case in the other models but on other parts. None are 100% the same.


Speaking in terms of the 750 that is.

I got the KZ700 for $35 shipped from L.A. He had it listed for $120+ shipping! :ohmy:

I figured he was trolling for dopes. I took a wild stab and made an offer and he accepted it. I wasn't in dire need of it but I do like the idea of the spare since my minty side panel flew away on a ride.

I'll tell you what, To make up for some d-bags that have surfaced lately, I'll send you mine for the $35+shipping. PM me your postal code and I'll figure out the best way to get it to you. I'll find another one some time.

Just to let you know it is slightly warped in spots and has some gouges on the top left that will need to be filled and sanded.
