75 on 76 body panels? was created by spdygon
Alright....so paint job for my 76kz900 is to pricey.
Thinking of just buying a complete 75 model kit. Tank side covers tail piece for $1250 shipped.
is it possible to install the 75 side covers on the 76 without mods?

If I remember correctly, The lower forward mounts are part of the battery box/ motor mounts. The front top is in the same place but the back is lower. The frame I have was supposed to be a 75. It isn't. Thought about moving the mounts but there was too much to do and it wouldn't be original anyway. Mike the owner of the salvage shop was a crook. That was in 86. I'd still like to get my hands on him today.

See what Paintworkz would charge you to paint your side covers, or get the paint and do it your self :)
You could probably recoup your costs by selling the 75 covers

Yeah the 76-early 77 900s are the bastard child ,atleast on the right sidecover.
Its the only model the battery comes out the side on.

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

I believe, Only the right side cover for the 76 has the bottom tab the attaches to the battery box, in a different location than the 75, so I believe you would only have to have the right side cover painted from your 76 to match whatever paint job you get
