I've never found any high temp paint that really works, even the + 1200 degree stuff. It just doesn't stay on for me.

VHT is probably the most commonly recommended rattlecan paint to apply. surface preparation is critical.

Alternatively, there are companies that do ceramic coating (high temp powder coating). Jet Hot is one such outfit & I think they're considered one of the best. The cost is probably several hundred dollars, though. cycleworld --- jethot

+1 It softens and rubs off eventually. Has to be redone every year. Major pain in the ass.

Never had any paint that really lasted... not even the paint put on by aftermarket manufacturers of headers.
If lucky, I could get a season or two before flakes and rust. But they all turned a lighter color pretty much after a few rides.

The factory GPZ 550 headers were a sort of black chrome type coating. That's the only type of coating that lasted.

I tried using VHT header paint on mine and it didnt hold up well at all. I had flaking and chipping in the first couple rides. I ended up wrapping my exhaust.

I got my exhaust coated with ceracote this Winter.
Good finish so far, but haven`t tested it yet in high temp, still 3 monts of winter here.

Duracoat makes a product called Duraheat. Its made for silencers and barrels. Says that its good for 1500+ degrees. I thought about trying it on my pipes. Plus its a no bake solvent resistant coating

I use the barbecue spray on previous pipes. As long as the bike not too lean it's fine. These came satin finish, went over it with gloss. Unless i can figure out a better way the pipes already have to come off for oil changes.
