Since you are not concerned about originality, how about reproductions?
Scroll down the page to see their selection. I bet they might be willing to share measurements if you see a set you like.

A nice pair of badges -'emblems' can be hard to find now too.
Search NOS (new old stock) on ebay or by part numbers if you can.

I didnt destroy them, if you are refering to the side covers. In fact if anyone here wants them they are yours for shipping. I ground off the tabs that hold them to the frame.

I understand that. I suspect they look like that because the top is longer than the sides. Mine is 14" across the top, 12" top front to the bottom and 14" top back to the bottom. Not a true triangle.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationGack!
What I'm looking for is a pair of covers that look like this
Dont care about emblems. All I want to know is if the general shape will conform (more or less) to the angles of my currently open triangle in the frame. For example the top dimension of the side cover is 9" and the top dimension of my frame triangle is 14" or vice versa, either way it looks stupid or simply wont fit.

The one on eBay looks better for your bike. I didn't like the open space below.

I know its not a proper triangle and I'm not trying to fill the "triangle" anyway, just pop a trapezoid into the top to cover the majority of it, hence the reference to the old Honda covers which were pretty close to proper trapezoids I think, but I kinda doubt they would match the angles of my irregugular "triangle" frame bits

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Pretty sure I've worn out everyones patience on this thread but when you say left top left for the grommet do you mean top front? Also what is the overall width at the top and at the bottom?
EDIT
Duh, of course the top front would be on the right of the right side cover looking from the outside and vice versa. Still how big are they?

The placement of the grommets change from model to model. The top two fit on both covers but I had to make a bracket to slip behind the frame on both bottom ones.
