I have been doing this for years, Glass bead the aluminum, wash it good, then bake it to get all moisture out.
Then spray it with real clear coat urethane paint.
Cheaper than paying the powder coat Man! And I don't do enough to invest in
the Eastwood system and an old 220 Volt electric oven.
Time to dig this old project out of the mothballs.
Give me something to do this winter.

It's automotive clear. I use Dupont ChromaClear, hyper cure 4700S, I have been using the same gallon for over 15 years.
How long? Longer than me probally! Plus I always use DOT 5 silicone brake fluid, Have for 30 years, won't effect paint at all.

Years ago I read a article in one of the bike mags that gave a part number for Yamaha clear coat and they said it was about the only clear that never turns yellow....... ordered it but gave up after checking on it for months and months...... yep the cheap spray clear I bought yellowed. ....... and have been just using wax ever since.

How did you do the lettering on your switches? I'm guessing you brushed it in and then wiped off the excess, but if there's a better process, I'd like to know. I'll be doing the same in the near future.

Old trick. Use oil paint and wipe off the excess. You can pick up any color you want at a arts and crafts store.
