Front fork trim
11 May 2015 10:55
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHey all!! I am a little tired of looking at naked front brake splitter....Never had a cover ON mine...This seller claims that this part is for a 78..can anyone confirm? If so, how does it mount?

He's wrong; no 1978 model had a fork cover. The fork covers did not appear on KZ650 models until 1980. The 1980 KZ650-E1 (LTD) and the 1980 KZ650-F1 had them; then the 1981 KZ650-H1 (CSR) got them. I believe all the post 1980 models got them. Ed

Thanx Ed, I suspected that if ANYONE here knew definitively, it would be you, LOL! (soooo, if a guy WERE to say, deviate from stock just a little bit, what do the mounting bolts thread into?)

I'm not sure, but apparently the 1980 KZ650-F1 and E1 use a bracket that the cover attaches to. The bracket may attach to the splitter? (see 1st image below).
The 1981 KZ650-H1 uses a little different bracket setup (see 2nd image). Ed

Hey Grumpy I have an 80 LTD and that diagram is exactly how mine is. I actually just modified my stock one from the one you found on fleabay to a chrome one I bought at a swap meet. I can ship you mine for shipping cost if you want. I unfortunately modified the stock bracket so you'd still have to figure that part out. Let me know

Heres what I have on my CSR1000,which shows you how it all goes together.Unfortunately the bracket is not available
though the kwak sign is.

The whole thing bolts on to the lower yoke(triple tree) using the same holes as the splitter (longer bolts)
If thats any good to you.
good luck

I bought one for Bossie. I too was tired of looking at the naked area under my head light. I made a bracket out of sheet aluminum and attached it to the bolts holding my splitter.
