I think he means the gold colored plating that Kaw used on most of their elec brackets and some hardware. I would maybe try the yellow pages and check out "plating". What are those gears off of Wireman? Just curious.

Another alternative is to do it yourself.

Google diy zinc plating for some interesting articles.

That was just a picture I googled nickel plating.
The shop I use in sioux city nebraska does chrome and nickel plating,Im kind of leaning towards having hardware nickel plated from now on.
It reminds me more of the stainless steel hardware I use on many lower stressed parts,so Im thinking I could use the nickel on my other fasteners that are also button allen head style but stronger grade material so they look more like the stainless steel fasteners I use on other pieces B)

The high gloss nickel looks nice. You might also want to check out electroless nickel plating for a matte finish for some parts. I had some rifle scope bases & mounts and other firearms related pieces done many years ago and they turned out looking really nice and held up great. Ed

I think he means zinc plating like the hardware was originally plated.

Look for a place local to you that does barrel plating. That is the cheapest and fastest way to electoplate. I used this place in Kansas City. www.kcpl8r.com/

Degrease and wire wheel each piece to get the best results. It should cost less than $75 for nearly all of the hardware from one bike.

I have also used Eastwood's tin zinc electroplating kit www.eastwood.com/ew-electroplating-system-tin-zinc.html
It's not bad for small items and those that you forgot to send out to have plated, but I would not attempt to do everything with it. Plus you can't do large pieces like axle bolts with it.

I too would like to find a good source to get my nuts/bolts plated like factory and would be willing to ship in a usps flat rate box if need be.

Hi, this is what you would like I presume?
I did this Z1 restoration about 2 years ago, for an ebay auction.
Got $100 from someone in Seattle
An old timer from an industrial chrome, plating business.
They are done! Retired. Gave up due to high co$t in NY State! And Gov. regulations.
But you have to soak in a phousphoric acid bath to rempve original zink,
then media blast them before they dip in fresh zinc coat. If they are not clean, they will contaminate the solution. I did the prep, it cost me coffee B)

Nickel would be nice also, that is alot more cost though.

Check with any chrome plating business.

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!
