So you want a tool that does both sand and soda? Then you have to use a sand blaster and hope it does soda well. DIY soda blasters, like mine, might spray some sand but I don't think the parts will last too long. Soda is not nearly as abrasive as sand or even glass bead. That's why a piece of hose and a $3 air nozzle works so well.

That's kind of what I figured. I think I'm leaning towards the $40 portable blaster.

Get both. The sand blaster will not do soda to well, it will waste the soda and use way to much. I have a cheap campbell hausfield non recovery blaster and the cheap harbour freight gun for soda.

couldnt you just use a tip with a smaller hole on a sand blaster to us soda better? or weld and drill the tip?
