So, I just got this bike and, among other issues, i already have a chip in the paint where I used the kick-starter today.

I am looking for some sort of ideas on something to cover the area where the kicker swings down next to the frame. Thinking along the lines of some sort of thin piece of rubber that I can wrap around that spot on the frame. Maybe something else? I don't know.

Any help would be great.

I had a similar issue where the kickstand was on my bike.

I used one of the old tank rubbers with zip ties - not pretty, but it works really really well.

that was sort of my idea, but i dont know what to use for the rubber. the plant i used to work for had some rubber matting material that would be perfect for this, but the place is closed now, so i cant go back to get any.

try the hardware store, ask in the weather stipping department.

3m weather strip adhesive. Put a thin film on the rubber, and a thin film on wherever you're sticking it to, put it together, pull it apart right away, wait a minute or 2, until it tacks up, then put it back. It will never come off.

Ill take a pic of the spot its hitting. on the original style of the frame it probably wouldn't have hit, but with the weld-on hard tail it hits sometimes while kicking down.

I think that the kick pedal must have hit the side on the way back up.

Still not sure what to use for a piece of rubber on there? the weather stripping all seems to have some sort of ridge on them, and i thought about rubber drawer liners, but they all seem to be flimsy and waffled. I found some stuff at the hardware store called bathtub liner that would be perfect, but it only came in a really light grey. I want to find something in black so it somewhat blends in to the frame color.

thanks for the pics sweet bike after i wrote my comment i figured it had somthing to do with the new part of the frame, wow that sucks but i know how you feel when i built my orange bike it was all done rode it the first time my brother inlaw was riding with me and i had struts on it, i told him it rode like a rock he said i had to much air in the rear so he let some out. i rode home put it in the shop got up the next morning went out and the bike was laying on its side big dent in the tank  over the nite there wasnt enough air in the tire that it leeked around the bead tire went flate and the kick stand pushed it over so i feel your pain.
