Brings up a thought....
Had you shopped/priced it with an upholstery shop?

I wonder what they're charging these days....

Hmmm, me wonder.

I wondered the same, but I was worried it would be far over the $60 or so I paid for the Saddleman cover. I was poor at the time (crap, hasn't changed).

I have the Saddlemen Kz900-A4 cover also. I can agree with what Tri says to a 'T. I recovered my seat after replacing the "LTD'd" seat foam on my A4 with foam from AmericanClassix.com.

Tri - who made the other cover you are ordering?

In all fairness anybody actually restoring a bike isn't going to replace with a seat cover, looks like to me just a cheap fix for a bad seat, jmo

Cheap fix? I've got $200 in my seat having the foam reconditioned and new upholstery put on it. My pan and foam were in good shape the cover was worn and I had a seam split right before the season was up. I also had them take off about half of the ass catcher on the back and all the stitching across the top. And just to clarify, I've put about $7000 in the restomod of my bike this winter. I wonder, does talking out of your ass make the inside of your mouth taste like shit?

Andy are we talking about seat covers or how much money you can throw at your bike, this site is dedicated to guys who can turn a wrench, for those who can't get ready to open up your wallet, from what I have seen you must be the latter

Yeah the inside of your mouth must taste like shit. I have only sourced chrome and paint and powder and upholstery you know all the shit that you can do. Oh I paid Larry to port my head, and I bought some cams from APE cause my lathe is busted and I just don't own a knife sharp enough to whittle my own cams. So yeah I opened my wallet and bought the parts I need to build my bike. I also paid a guy to build my crank since my dog chewed through the cord on my tig welder. I guess since I have the money to make it the way I want it I can't have the ability to do it myself.

And the dollar figure was thrown out so you'd know I'm restoring/modding my bike and all I did was recover my seat you know the "cheap fix", those are your words bright eyes.

Looking at your pic, doesn't look like a $68.00 saddle men seat cover, but then what do I know, except that if I had 7 grand to spend it wouldn't be on a 78 ltd that I could pick up all day long for 2500 jmo

Ah so there it is. I didn't pay 7grand for my bike I've invested that in it. I happen to have a few very fond memories from my early teens that made me want one of these bikes and now I have the means to make it the way I want it so I am. Sorry my '78 doesn't measure up to the standard that your '79 has set but some of us just don't have it like that.:( Next time I build a bike I'll make sure to give you the heads up so you can tell me what a worthwhile bike is to invest my money in. And, that's not a saddleman seat cover, it is however not original and was in response to your statement that recovering the seat on a "restoration" (which is only partly true on my build) is a cheap fix to a bad seat. Seemed like an uneducated and somewhat assanine statement to me and I deemed it worthy of a response. OMR mentioned an upholstery shop be tried as did others and I showed my seat and gave a cost for it. I also stated what I have in my build so you, oh sage of the KZ, would know that I have indeed restored my bike and not made whatever lame duck attempt that your current build qualify's for.
