I bought some beat up case guards for the GPz. I have about $10 bucks in them. The right side guard had been on the asphalt. There was a deep scrape and it had gone completely through the tube. I welded the tube and reshaped it using a grinder and several sanding discs to make it round again. I sand blasted them and built some new mounting hardware. Just as I was to powder coat them satin black, (I even had black loaded in the gun) I changed my mind and broke out the Victory Red powder. Well here is the final product. Should I have just went with the black to keep the look subtle or is the red what the bike needed?

Let me know what you think.

(If the pics need to be resized and if a moderator knows how, knock yourself out).

Thanks,
Richard Z.

I don't think it looks bad, but I think it would look better black.

I like the style of the guards but they should be black. Guards are supposed to be subtile. The red makes it look like you are trying to show them off. It also takes away a bit from the engine. Just scuff them up and shoot with black. No problem coating over old powder.

A matching red sombrero with black mosquito balls would make a great accessory.

How about a big red cape?

Actually, the bike looks pretty damn nice though! A lot cleaner than my oil-storm GPZ.

I could ride while doing the Superman Pose. Superman Pose = Right hand on the throttle, left hand on my hip while riding. Sorry, I see too many squids on superbikes riding like that......;)

The GPz pics aren't very pretty. there is several layers of dust on the bike. The red really contrasts againsts the dirty black.

i think the red looks good, because with everything else black around the engine, it kinda makes the bike look like it has a huge gap and no engine...at least with the red guards, it gives it contrast.....and by the way, its not fair that you have a power coating station:angry:
