I saw a bike builder last night on TV who grinds designs into his bare metal tanks and fenders with a grinder and then uses candies over them - which is essentially clear coat with tint. Looks pretty freakin wild. :)

BTCHALICE, that is EXACTLY what I was talking about, only we'll have to get some of that rust off first. You must be TELEPATHETIC.

Those 3m pads are quite aggressive, I would be careful using those. If you do, be SURE you use eye protection. A better and safer item to use is the ro-loc scuff pads. Less agressive and you can feather out some nice patterns. Be careful, you can get extra bodywork. You only have 1 set of eyes.

fonzee is right about them being aggressive.. to get nice patterns use a medium or course disc.. if you use air... turn the regulator down... works for me that way...

Good Day all, I currently have my KZ 1000 in mock up and polished the whole Bike as listed in the photo gallary. I was told to use the product AP as stated above, However I was told to apply clear while the Ap product is still wet, So you have a 3 min time limit to spray Ap and clear. If you wait for the product AP```to dry and then clear the finish will be cloudy. Please advise. Do I wait or spray while wet.

The product to use is House of Kolor AP-01. It is the adhesion promoter I mentioned earlier. Then simply clear coat over that. I would use an automotive catalyzed type clear though.

fonZee is right on the money here. You can grind or sand designs into the metal also to get different effects.
