You would have to use satin clear, or use a satin that requires no clear coat.

I think satin racing stripes would look good on your bike!

i would love to add satin black to match the rest of the black on the bike.
Otto, if i used a satin black as a top coat, would i just have to live with the edge left by the second layer of paint, or is there a simple solution?

If you use a satin clear, you can then mask off the strips and then buff the colored area and make that area shinny again.

Awe the master has spoken.
I thought u might have an answer for me.
Will i have a tough time buffing up to the satin black lines?
i was thinking of some detailed graphics and lettering, not just a stripe. this may proove difficult. are there any other options?
I dont usualy end up doing things the easy way. this is my first job though so i need to keep it simple.
Thanks Mark.

Because satin clear actually has a flattening agent, you can't buff it out because it will wind out looking "milky".

Paint the satin black, or the black and satin clear. Make sure you use fine line masking tape so you're left with a nice clean edge. After the satin areas have cured enough, mask them off with the same fine masking tape and use regular clear on the color portion. That way the paint seams butt up against each other
