I recently had my 78 KZ1000 repainted back to the original (sort of) green. I know it's darker than original, but it is actually much closer than the pictures depict. Unfortunately, the paint shop kind of messed up the decals when applying the clear coat. From a distance of 4 feet or more, it isn't very noticeable. Closer up however, it's pretty evident. The shop as agreed to redo the tank by essentially pealing off the decals and painting the striped outline left by the decal. Question is, am I being too picky? Should I have it re-done, or just leave it as is? Even with the flaws it’s so much better than it was.
Thanks.
I may have to make several attempts on the pics so please be patient!

Hell no you're not picky!
Did you desire & pay for bubbled clear coat, no...........
This is a no brainer....
Have it re-done at their costs, no doubts about it!

If a friend was doing it thats one thing, but to pay a shop to do it like that....... they should not have called and said it was "ready for pick up" If I was a shop I would not want my name involved in something like that.

Now when ppl interested in the old girl go, whoa nice KZ, then get up close then go Whoa, WTF, too bad, that sucks, why don't you fix that etc....
The beauty deserves it, get her fixed the way you originally intended...

Wow! Quickest replies I've ever had on any forum! I am going to take it back to be redone. In all fairness, the shop owner was not happy either and did offer to redo the tank. The actual paint job is so flawless, I hope that the redo will look just as nice.

I would bring it back to them and request a re-do...If they're a reasonable company that wants to keep a good reputation, they will honor your request.

Doesn't look like a paint problem. Looks like trapped moisture from decal application. Very common. That could be repaired easy.Unfortunately the paint will have to be disturbed to fix. Most of the guys around here are DIY's and rattlecan happy. Careful who you ask for advise. Nice looking bike btw.....

UUUgh, you're making me sweat! I'm going to be delivering my tank and plastics for painting next week! The instructions on my decals specifically say to wait two days before applying to fresh paint or the type of "gassing" that can be seen on your tank will happen. When you talk to them, ask how long they waited to put the decals on.
