I'm doing this in a few weeks, I'll be posting pics too. Helluva lot cheaper than $3-400. And por 15 is awesome stuff, can't see why it wont work well.

I don't think that a radiator shop can remove rust.

I will call a few radiator shops tomorrow and see what they can actually do or not do on a steel tank.

Cool, let me know if its any good. If its not maybe I'll just use the prep stages to clean out the gum and rust and not bother with the coating. por15 has a great name for rust coatings though, so you never know.

I have been using POR-15 for a few years now and the only stuff I don't like are their silver paints. They never harden. I have used three different silvers and they all suck. You can scrape them off with your fingernail days after a part has been painted. however I love their blacks, The black paints are some of the most durable paints i have ever seen. I have bought their tank sealer but have not used it yet.

Hay KaweasakiMan    I owe you a BIG WET KISS   I called just the first and closest radiator shop to my house and they perform the entire service including the coating, for about a buck and a half. This saves me a bunch of MULA. Thanks for the great tip.

Here is a pdf from another inline four website that uses a battery charger and baking soda. I was going to give it a whirl to see how well it works and then do the POR-15 treatment

Scroll down to the tank cleaning link

Well I dropped the ZR750 tank off at the local radiator place for cleaning and sealing. They said it will take about for to five days because they are very busy. Once I get it back I will post how it turned out.
