It may seem expensive, but if you knew what it took to produce something like this you wouldn't squabble much. Although I'm sure a few would.

Actually I DO KNOW what it takes as I just did that to my LTD B3

I uses a base coat/clear coat system from Dupont Chroma systems.

paint was $125.00

misc finishing materials $30.00

decals and graphics $200.00 ( if I could hand pinstripe this would not be this much)

and about 15 hrs of sanding and prep work. (if I really knew what the hell I was doing this could be about 2/3rd of this)

I am not a professional Auto body painter but I have been doing industrial painting for 20 years. so mine is probably not quite as good but still at that price I would be making about 67 bucks an hr.

I guess you have to count the actual tank and covers too.

still seams a bit steep.

Can't speak for the quality but I do know that there is no one regularly putting out restoration paints for 1977/78 KZ1000A's including www.Paintworkz.com ... or for that matter, the KZ1000B line so if this fellow can develop a following, he'll sell kits.

hey aria60 i was just kidding with the squabble ,squabble...i wanna repaint my 76 which although worn is still green and gold with the pinstripping...and have figuered i would wanna fleabay an extra body set any color and prep it,so i can know exact pinstripe locations and have my faded stock set to match as i go...colors...location of details...etc....paint $ prep$ decals$ spare body$...it makes the predone sets seem like a better option if i can get my hands on enough cheese to splurge....makes me even lean towards finding a pro and going gloss black on mine....hmmmm pinstripe stock with gloss black..oh here we go again$$$$arai60 wrote:
