Best color for selling?

'79 KZ650 B3

I'm getting ready to have my tank, side covers and tail painted. I've narrowed it down to black, silver, or red; I'll be happy with any of the three.

My question is, which color would make the bike most attractive to potental buyers, if I ever decide to sell it?

Even if I did, I'm pretty set on black, silver, or red.

Stock was either a candy persimmon red, candy emerald green, or maybe black. Do you intend on a solid color, or will there be pinstripes?

For awhile, I was wanting to just go with flat black. I eventually decided on going with a color, primarily to preserve value. Maybe that's not the best way to go. Flat black looks cool, and allows someone to choose their own color, if they like.

Paint it like you want it...if you go with a gloss finish, might I suggest some pinstripes...they give a retro look and really offset the paint well...check out the photos of stock 1979 KZ650's on KZR to get a feel for the stock curb appeal.

Don't know if this applies to bikes, but on cars I've heard red described as "resale red".
OTOH, When I first got my KZ, I had fixing it up and selling it. Nowadays, after I've fixed her all up and made her pretty, I shudder to even think about selling her. :lol:

Depends on several factors such as who is the intended buyers (young versus old farts like us) are, is the bike basically stock in regards to engine modificatons and ergo's, has the swingarm, front end been converted, has the aluminum/side casings been buffed/chrome etc...

If stock, as already mentioned, factory colors with pin striping will be what the older farts will be looking for.

If a modified version has been accomplished especially with buffed/chrome, gloss black for the younger for the mean street fighter look and appeal.

Just my two cents worth...

That makes sense. I've had an ebay search set for KZ650s for a long time, and every time I look, it's the bright red one that always catches my eye.

Blue.

It's my favorite color.
