it's not that i don't like it at all i just think that the line of a cafe bike tank is a little different. and the xs tank has knee cutouts.

Try a KZ1000 MKII or shaft drive tank. It has knee cutouts B)

I'm a builder, not a mechanic, but.... In carpentry, we have a saying, "If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer."
If you pulled this off, would you have a Yamasaki?

will the kz1000 tank fit on the smaller frame of the kz650 with little modding:dry:. i am trying to do this on the cheap and can't afford to buy a tank and hope it fits. also will the petcock on the 650 tank fit on the kz1000 tank. i am looking at one on ebay that has to petcock. thank you guys for all your knowledge i am pretty new to this. i got a kz650 for free and i'm in college so i'm poor but i want to get this bike going.

I am doing a similar project. I am putting a XS tank on a CB350 I am building. I am also using the tail piece from the same bike and building a custom seat. If it will fit on a CB350 then it should have to proble fitting on a KZ650. All I have to do is relocate the tank mounting points.

Im Just bugging you because your tank is better than mine.
Jeez. I priced out a good Seca tank awhile back and came up with "I think theyre made of Gold" and forgot about it. Its Just a Comfortable 90MPH cruiser.
Just needs a tank & seat. maybe the boots taken off the carbs and siliconed on the outsides since I cant find any around here.(and i am cheap because my Kawasaki will get the real repairs)
