Duck,
Did you see when Tom Green had a guy paint the lesbians on his parents car hood? ...very talented artist.
fun effects to play with it are tinted clears and base coat. also, in between layers of clear, put on a few highlights around panel edges with various types of pearls. something like the top picture, I would put a clear over it, then airbrush some bright yellow tinted clear into some of the red, to give an orange glow. it deffinitely would make it pop out. Subdued copper pearl into clear on some of the lack would also be fun.
have fun!

No, I missed the Tom Green thing.
Tell me what you think I could do with the Hondazaki and ten or so spare bucks.
I need to sand the tank and beadblast the tight spots Monday.
I'm up for a few coats from rattlecan and maybe some masking with pinstripe tape.
John Deere Green and Yellow maybe?

the price is right:P
the crinkle/alligator effect i actually came across by accident awhilkle back when i was resrpaying my lil brothers bicycle.
i couldnt figure out for the life of me how or why it was cracking so bad.
but its caused by drastic paint temp changes
with that tank i sprayed my base and let it cure fully then heated the tank with a heat gun and put my paint in the freezer for about 5 minutes.
spray and let it cure in about 55-60 degrees f
its neat because you can actually control how much it cracks by messing around with the temps

I like John's suggestions for layering and highlights.
Me, I'm too cheap and unskilled for fancy paint but maybe my daughter will do something if she ever comes back from Paris.
Contemplating the possibility, what's the trick for line drawing? Say I do a white basecoat, what could Ana use to draw in black on the white that I might layer some clear over?
Also, John, what do you think of the long polymer urethanes. How well do they hold up? A friend painted his boat with some using a brush and it laid out so well you'd think he'd sprayed and wet sanded it. Looked like a smooth plastic coat with zero brush marks. He bought it at the boat store and it was very expensive compared to my usual enamel purchases.

the way i do it is i draw the picture i want to use for referance then mask the piece with 3m mask film.
with the jester i started with the hat then the balls then the face remasking between each color with full cure.you have to be somewhat of an artist to do it this way because you basically have to freehandthe outlines on the masking or you can stencil.
the jester actually came off a stencil but i wasnt going to pay $19.00 for one stencil so i drew it while looking at the stencil.
after all color outlines are done i went back and with another masking i drew on the detail lines.
white masking film is a great medium because it shows most colors really well
its alot of masking, drawing and cutting but well worth it
i dont know though i might be doing this all wrong and their could be an easier way but for me it works and im pleased with the results
also after the detail is dry very lightly sand with 3000 grit sandpaper to remove tape lines before airbrushing.
if i am doing this wrong and someone knows easier ways im open for suggestions
and does anyone know where i can get kaw factory paint chips?
