Will a KZ650 tail section fit on an SR?

The SR's engine rests in a mild steel, double-downtube frame identical to the regular KZ650 structure. The SR frame, however, has an additional half-degree of steering head angle and five more millimeters of front wheel trail. These increases are not due to a change in the frame or front-end parts. Instead they are merely a result of the SR's 16-inch rear tire.

So, this being the case, is there any reason why I could not put a standard KZ650 seat, tail section, and tank on my KZ650 SR?

The back loop of the frame is a little different between the D models and B&C models, as well as missing the tail section mounting tabs. But as others have shown, anythings possable.
Here's a 650 SR in the gallery with a tail: 650SR .

Then again, maybe the tail with the SR tank would look alright...

I just saw this post. I am interested in doing the same thing with the same bike. I have been seeking a more comfortable seat replacement for my 79 650SR but they are hard to find because the SR was limited production and the seat/fender configuration is different. However, parts for the 650KZ are more plentiful, including seats and rear spoilers. So I was wondering....
Anybody here ever install a rear spoiler on an SR model? If so, will a standard KZ650 seat work on the SR frame? I know that the SR seat will NOT work if a spoiler is installed, so another seat has to be used. Except for the shape of the pan of the KZ Vs SR, are the hinge, latch and grommet placements compatible?
I welcome all comments.

I am searching the other forums and ebay pics showing the bare frame of KZ models.
My main concern is that the hinge points and latch match up. Mounting the rear cowl should be fairly simple, even with modification.
The rear cowl installation isn't my goal. I just want to find a comfortable seat for my wife and me. The SR models are just too rare and 18 months of searching for a seat have proved fruitless. However, there's LOTS of KZ seats available. So I figured I'd add the cowl and use a KZ seat...IF possible.
BTW...I like your KZ site.

BTW...I like your KZ site.
The 650info site is not mine, if that's what your refering to.
Mike, aka Tazzman started that site, and I'm just looking after it with some help while he's away.
It is a great site for those looking for info on the 650s.
